Kaleb contacted us when he was still seeking asylum, his five children were still in Africa and living without either parent. We were unable to help him until he had refugee status and his children had the visas to enter the UK. He kept in touch with us and let us know when he’d got his refugee status. In the time it took him to apply for the visas he’d secured a job at a UK charity helping people in a similar situation to the one he’d been in.
Three years after Kaleb had first contacted us he secured the visas for his children to join him. By this time he was earning too much to qualify for our funded travel. We offered him support and discounted flights through our travel service and he paid for the five flights himself.
He was reunited with his family a few weeks later.
